Royal Foundations is a monthly magazine of literature, art and general culture, published in the interwar period, between 1934 - 1947, under the aegis of the King Carol II of Romania Royal Foundations encyclopaedic profile of the magazine was inspired from French publication Revue des deux Mondes, but adherence to national specificities were taken from indigenous predecessors Dacia Literară, Convorbiri Literare and Gîndirea. This study shows the value of Royal Foundations, which exerted a major influence on Romanian literature and culture, managing to be above partisan trends and benefit from the collaboration of the chief writers, critics, literary historians and scholars of the time. She promoted quality literature and critical thinking without ideological recruitment.
